Can I file an extension on local taxes?

After filing my taxes I found out I owe a large sum of local taxes because my previous employer didnt take out near enough. I do not have the money to pay all of it. I tried searching for an answer on the internet but was unable to find one. My question is, is there a way to file an extension or payment plan on local taxes you owe in Pennsylvania? I cant afford to pay it all so either option would work for me.

You didn't mention the local PA jurisdiction. According to the PA Department of Revenue, for payment plan for PA state income tax:

You may set up payment arrangements for Personal Income Tax liabilities by contacting the Collection Unit directly at 717-783-3000.

Payment plans can also be handled by the Revenue District Offices. Check the blue pages of your telephone directory for our Office that covers your area. Or, visit our web site at:

Most tax debt is able to be set up on payment plans. Write a letter or call and tell them the situation and that you can't afford to pay it all back right now. You'll have penalities and interest charges but least they wont garnish wages.
Here is information on extensions. I don't want to give you any wrong answers!
