Do I have to dye a black extension, blonde first, then a strange colour?

Okay, so I have a black extension, and I wanted to get a coon tail with black and blue. But I thought If I dyed the black extension blue, it'd turn out really dark you won't be able to see this colour. So I heard that if you dye it blonde first, than dye it a strange colour like blue, it'd turn out bright and easy to see. Is it true?

Yes, but you can also buy blonde extensions at a beauty supply store.

dying it blonde wont work on such dark colored hair. bleach it first, then dye it a strange color, like blue.
umm not nessesarally excuse my spelling lol just look for hair color that says on the box "for dark hair olny that should work"
Esther...if you try to put blonde hair color on black hair it will not come out blonde...usually you have to bleach the hair then put the color on it...(before I started to color my hair black I could put dye on it w/o using bleach and the color would show up fine but wiht the dye on my hair now I have to lighten the hair before putting light colors on it in order for them to show up...I am not sure if the same applies to false hair)
um u could do it blonde to be safe or just go all out

If you want to get the colour on the packet of blue dye, you will have to bleach your hair first. However, unless you've been told that you can, I'd check with your hairdresser (or whoever put in the extensions) before bleaching them to make sure that you won't do any damge to them.
