I would like to make a compression locking extension pole for a product idea I have and would like to know how it works. Anyone know how so I can draw it out?

The end of the outer tube has a thread on it, but it is also tapered, so it's a bit conical.
There are saw cuts around the end so that it is like a series of fingers around the outside of the inner tube.
When the collar on the end of the outer tube is screwed up it compresses the fingers so they grip the other tube.
